Due to their versatility and safety profile, silicones are used in hundreds of applications that improve people’s lives every day. Silicones have been subject to hundreds of scientific studies, which conclude that they are safe for human health, when used for their intended purposes. Regulatory agencies in Canada and Europe have reviewed these materials and all have concluded that they pose no risk to human health. Expert scientific panels, such as the U.S. Cosmetic Ingredient Review, also have concluded that silicones do not pose a risk to human health in cosmetic applications.
